On October 24th, the feast day of St. Anthony Mary Claret, the founder of the Claretian Congregation, a new Claretian residence was canonically erected in the Diocese of Galle. The Claretian presence in the Diocese of Galle goes back to 2019 when Fr. S. Jesuthasan CMF started teaching at Enselwatte School (Matara District). Since February 2020 the Claretians have run Enselwatte-Selvakanda as a quasi-parish. In February 2022 the bishop of Galle the Most Rev. Dr. Raymond Wickramasinghe declared it as an autonomous parish with the name “Our Lady of Madhu Parish”, Enselwatte.
