The ASCLA Governments’ Encounter with the General Government
The Council members of all the Major Organisms of the two Conferences, ASCLA-East and ASCLA-West, the Major Superior of Deutschland, the Secretary General and the General Government came together from the 10th to the 19th of December, 2018 at the Catholic Center in Medan (North Sumatra – Indonesia).
There were 54 participants, including the leadership team of the Sri Lankan Delegation: Frs. Rex Constantine, Royestan Jeyaraj, Solomon Nirmalan and Danushka Silva. The encounter deepened the theme, ‘Witnesses and Messengers of the Joy of the Gospel in Asia’. The encounter’s objective was: “to discern together the Challenges to our Missionary Life and our Missionary Response in Asia in the light of the Canonical Visits and XXV General Chapter.”
In his inaugural address, Rev. Fr. General invited the participants to imbibe the spirit of ‘Synodality’ in the missionary life and animation of each organism. The encounter lined up with the three processes of transformation depicted in the XXV General Chapter document. After all the assessments were compiled, “a statement of the conference” was finally formed. To culminate the event, Fr. General asked the members to go back to their communities as messengers and witnesses of the joy of the Gospel. All the participants of the encounter were re-energized for a better mission in their own respective roles.
