Priestly Ordination and the First Masses

Deacons Parington Leenas, Xavier Thipusios and Abilas Mathuranayaham were ordained priests at the Eucharistic celebration held at St. Mary’s cathedral, Jaffna on the 24th of October, 2018. The ordaining prelate of the ceremony was His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam, the bishop of Jaffna. The day was also the feast of St. Anthony Mary Claret, the founder of Claretian Missionaries. Claretian family in Sri Lanka together with many other priests, religious and lay faithful witnessed the occasion.
The first Holy Eucharistic celebrations of the newly ordained priests were celebrated in the following order:
– Fr. X. Thipusios: at St. Mary’s church, Mutharipputhurai, on the 26th of October
– Fr. Parington Leenas: at St. Mary’s church, Sillalai, on the 27th of October
– Fr. Abilas: at St. Mary’s church, Delft on the 28th of October
As these three priests have been chosen to be sent for Antillas Province (Cuba) as missionaries, they are making the arrangements needed. Serendib wishes them all the best for their ministry in the future.
